Governance Documents Overview
Governance documents are essentially the documents that govern an organization. They provide an overall structure that has the formal approval of the organization members. The documents are used to manage the organization and to make decisions, especially difficult ones.
Examples of governance documents include Condo Rules and Regulations, an organization Standard Operating Procedure or even a marriage and a prenuptial agreement.
For our Club, they include our Constitution, Bylaws, and position descriptions. They exist in a hierarchy with the Constitution being the most important. The CRP Constitution is defined by PROBUS Canada. The CRP Bylaws follow the guidelines provided by PROBUS Canada for Club Bylaws and have been modified to match our current procedures.
The CRP Constitution and Bylaws must be reviewed annually by the Management Committee at the beginning of their tenure. The process for amendments is noted in the documents and requires formal approval from the Club Full Membership. Amended documents are forwarded to PROBUS Canada.
